My name is Tyson, and welcome to my writing portfolio! I often joke that I've been "living my life in overtime" since 2006, when I was blown up by a mortar in Habbaniyah, Iraq. The mortar landed roughly 1-2 feet away, and I narrowly escaped with my life and legs. This event and almost 40 years of life have helped shape me into who I am today.
I received a Purple Heart Medal in 2007 and deployed twice to Iraq to support the CASEVAC mission. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for almost ten years, I came home to Texas and started flight-testing V-22 Ospreys for about a year — I then built and dismantled B-61 bombs for a few more — and ultimately became a project manager for a local construction company (the family business).
I started writing more often a few years ago as it's quite cathartic. I started learning how to use my words more effectively along the way. I am constantly learning about new and fascinating things. Einstein said, "The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know," this mindset guides my life and my writing.
When I'm not immersed in professional pursuits, I relish spending quality time with my beloved wife and our wonderful brood of three teenagers and an energetic 5-year-old. Life with them is an absolute adventure, with endless entertainment. I enjoy studying psychology, philosophy, spirituality, and many other topics. I also enjoy meditation and am constantly seeking self-mastery in my life. I love to fish, play ice hockey, and be in nature.
Furthermore, I find great fulfillment in supporting fellow veterans by facilitating their healing journey through shared experiences of hunting, fishing, and embracing the serenity of the great outdoors. I've traveled from British Columbia to Mexico and many places in between as a volunteer at events like these.

There’s nothing more fulfilling professionally than seeing a business or non-profit organization benefit and ultimately help people based on something I wrote.
